Privacy and data

What the platform keeps about your store's searches, what it never keeps, and the three actions you can take about it.

2 min Updated 9 August 2026

Store profile → Privacy shows exactly what the platform keeps about your store: the searches and the clicks, with visible counters, and your plan's retention.

Never the IP address, never the user agent. That's the part that usually comes as a surprise, and it's a design decision: to answer the questions analytics answers (what people look for, what they don't find, what they click) those two fields aren't needed, and what isn't needed isn't kept.

The three actions, in order of severity

  • Download everything: the full export of your data.
  • Delete the analytics now: deletes searches and clicks immediately, without waiting for retention. The dashboard and optimisation go with them; merchandising, synonyms and settings stay.
  • Delete the account: it asks for the password. The owner takes the whole store (search indexes first, then everything else, with no way back); anyone who isn't the owner simply leaves the team.

Retention

Each plan keeps a certain number of days of analytics, and anything older than that is deleted. The screen shows the retention in force.

If you need to keep a longer history, the way to do it is to export the CSV from analytics before the window passes.

The bridge between a search and an order is a cookie of our own, bk_sid, written only when somebody opens search. It isn't an advertising cookie and it doesn't follow anyone outside the store.

If the store requires cookie consent (a switch on the store page), bk_sid is only written with consent. Without it, search works exactly the same; what's lost is the revenue attribution for those sessions.

The assistant's conversations

They stay in the platform's logs even after the customer deletes them from their own screen. These are two different things: deleting in the browser takes them out of the view of whoever was talking; the logs exist so the spend can be measured and so a disputed answer can be audited.

What's there is the conversation and the basket (product and quantity). The shipping details a customer without an account fills in on the assisted purchase form don't pass through us: they stay in their browser.
