The address of the shop
It takes about a minute. The page stays open and shows the result when it is done.
What gets tested
- Product names taken from the shop's own sitemap, written the way the shop writes them
- The same names with the typos customers actually make
- Brands, references and the popular word for the technical name
- A term that exists in no catalogue, to catch a search box that returns the same page whatever it is asked
Every search that returns nothing comes with the product page that should have shown up, on the shop itself. Nothing here has to be taken on trust.
What happens to the shop
Around thirty requests, one at a time and at the pace of a single visitor, from an agent that identifies itself as ours. Nothing is ordered, nothing is submitted and no account is touched. The same pages any customer opens.
A shop is not tested twice in the same week: within that time the same report is shown again, because a second run would measure the same thing.
And then?
Then nothing, unless it is asked for. The report belongs to whoever ran it, works as a list of things to fix with or without us, and no message is sent off the back of it.
